A Walk Through Time on the Devonian Trail (Parkland County)

Join CEC Chair Avelyn Nicol and Parkland County Library’s Walking Book Club’s Lareina Lisitza as we walk back through time on the Devonian Trail in Parkland County. Starting on the bank of the North Saskatchewan River in Prospectors Point Recreation Area we will learn about the gold rush and then walk through the beautiful Imerie Property that was generously donated along the trail. We’ll also point out some key landmarks along the way and enjoy some special scenery. The route will begin at the river, head up the Devonian Trail stop to see a newly constructed trail and then the program will end near Township Road 511. From here, we’ll head back down to the parking lot. It will take us about 2 hours (roughly 4km roundtrip) walking at a leisurely pace with stops along the way. There are bathrooms and garbage cans in the parking lot.

It is an intermediate (moderate level hike) on a gravel path with some hills at the beginning and end. The walk is approximately 4km return.
