Join the River Valley Alliance’s Community Engagement Committee for a Bike Tour
We invite you to join us for a scenic 31-km bike tour starting at West Rivers Edge Pavilion, designed for average riders on paved trails.
What to Bring:
- BYOB (Bring Your Own Bike or E-Bike): Ensure your bike is in good working order. One of our members will be available to assist with any bike issues, and we will have a first-aid kit on hand.
- Weather-Appropriate Clothing: Dress according to the weather conditions, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
Parking:
Parking is available at West Rivers Edge Pavilion.
Route:
This bike tour consists of 2 trips originating from the same starting point at West Rivers Edge. Total ride for the overall event is 31K.
The first trip is a 20-kilometer ride, 7 of which is on pavement and 13 of which is on gravel. This route takes riders south through WRE park, continues south onto the RVA Strathcona Riverside Trail, crosses the river on the new RVA / Edmonton / Strathcona Footbridge, and returns back to the starting point on a slightly different route. This route is flat. A few stops will be made at scenic points of interest.
The second trip is an 11-kilometer ride, 9 of which are on pavement and 2 of which are on gravel. This route takes riders north through WRE park onto the RVA Chabot Park trail and across the river on the new RVA Hwy 15 footbridge. On the way back, a short loop of the new city centre park gravel trail will be done. This route has 2 short hills that can be walked if necessary. A few stops will be made at scenic points of interest.
Difficulty: Easy—Medium
This event suits average riders, with a leisurely pace and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. While there are two short hills on the route, they can be walked if necessary, ensuring a comfortable experience for all participants.
Schedule:
Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time to check in and get situated. The group will depart promptly at 9:30 a.m. To help us stay on schedule, we ask that you arrive by 8:45 a.m.
Requirements:
Each participant must have a helmet and a bell to participate in this ride.

Please remember to dress for the weather. In the event of inclement weather, we will notify participants of any cancellations.
