As we head into the fall weather after 3 days of summer sunshine for the EPCOR RiverFest events, we can take each breath feeling pride in a substantial achievement, that of launching and executing the inaugural Capital Region River Valley Park EPCOR RiverFest! It is hard for me to put into words all the emotions this accomplishment entailed, but it is not hard to put into words the appreciation that I have for all the effort invested by staff and volunteers from all our partners.
Each Rendezvous host partner presented a professional venue with fun and educational programs. Guests felt welcomed and expressed their pleasure at the experience. The raft float was a definite hit in all locations and the many exhibitors and activity hosts provided an extensive variety of engaging experiences. There was a thread to tie all these events and activities together: the River Valley Park Trek of three intrepid adventurers touched on all Rendezvous locations, all seven municipal partners, and connected with the many trails and amenities of the 2012-17 RVA Capital Projects.
We worked together to inform the citizens of our capital region of the quality of our North Saskatchewan River as a source of water and a source for fun. This event exemplified safe and responsible recreation on the river. A huge step has been made in spreading the word of the good work the municipal partners are doing in advancing the “Vision” of our Capital Region River Valley Park as a world class destination. I am looking forward to post event awareness in the community. I anticipate there will be a lot of enthusiasm from others to become involved in future events!
On my behalf and on behalf of the RVA Board, please accept this message of thanks to all the supporters, volunteers and staff who contributed the EPCOR RiverFest 2017.
