DIRECTIONS:

PARKING:

Option 1: Prospectors Point Parking Lot

Option 2: At the south end of Range Road 262, please park along the west side of the road, not in front of the farmer’s gate, where the no-parking signs are.

ROUTE:

From Parking Location 1

  1. The trail begins further up from the Prospector’s Point parking lot. Look for the marker indicating the start of the trail.
  2. The trail starts on a gravel path and, after a short period of flat grade, begins to ascend above the river. Look beyond the trees for stunning views of the valley and river below. There are a few benches along the trail to stop and rest and garbage cans.
  3. Please continue until you come to a fork in the trail. One path goes up a hill to the left and the other down to the right. Take the trail to the right.
  4. Follow the path on the right until you get to a large staircase that leads down into the valley.
  5. Once at the bottom, continue on this trail for approximately 2km. The trail goes through a beautiful forest full of birds. This trail is not maintained in the winter and may be more challenging through the snow.
  6. At the far end of the trail, there is a second staircase out of the valley. The top of the stairs is the end of the trail. Once at the top, turn around and proceed back the way you came. (These stairs are not maintained in the winter and might be snow-covered. Proceed at your own risk)

Route

From Parking Location 2

  1. You can go down the trail to the river from the parking area.
  2. This trail descends a hill to a T-intersection. You can go straight or turn left. If you parked at location 1, turn left; this is where the trail meets.
  3. Follow the path on the right until you get to a large staircase that leads down into the valley.
  4. Once at the bottom, continue on this trail for approximately 2km. The trail goes through a beautiful forest full of birds. This trail is not maintained in the winter and may be more challenging through the snow.
  5. At the far end of the trail, there is a second staircase out of the valley. The top of the stairs is the end of the trail. Once at the top, turn around and proceed back the way you came. (These stairs are not maintained in the winter and might be snow-covered. Proceed at your own risk)
